Q. What is Naturopathy?
A. Naturopathy is a drugless therapy. It is a lifestyle which truely connects you to nature. No medicines of any kind or no elaborate tests are required. Naturopathy is there since the stone age when people treated themselves with natural elements. We can treat and avoid certain illness by ourselves with whatever is avaliable of the five natural elements avaliable round us in its natural form.
Q. How do the five natural elements cure the body?
A. Since human body is made up of the five basic elements of nature; teyy being earth, water, fire, space and earth, our body can be cured by the optimum use of these very elements. Moreover this thearapy is self corrective. Meaning when one ailment is treated, then often as a consequence of this treatment any other existing ailment is healed. For example if a person has gas and acidity issue, when treated with naturopathy the patients acidity, gas, constipation, skin, burning of eyes or what is even not known to the patient also gets treated. Body goes into an auto corrective mode.
Q. How dose this actually work?
A.Our body is made up of the five basic elements, over a period of time the body accumlates toxins due to faulty livestyle. So while treating with nature we first detoxify the body using the five natural elements. Then in step two with the help of right diet and yoga we reinfuse the correct balance of these natural elemenat in the body according to the patients requirements.
Q. How does each natural element work?
A.The method of fire element used for treatment in naturopathy it is knowm as cromo therapy, water as hydro therapy, earth as mud therapy, space and air is yoga therapy. Cromo therapy is used to balance vitamins eg vitamin ‘D’ which is derived from sun rays helps skin etc. Hydro therapy is used to ditoxify the body. It is important to understand that to maintain proper health our body needs to maintain a certain amount of water level. This correct level of water maintains the correct ratioo of acid and alkaline. Idealy the level acidity should be 30% and alkalinity 70%.
This ratio is known as the ph level. Mud therapy also detxifies the body and helps to maintain the ph level. Correct breathing techenics by yoga help to improvr oxigen intake which in turn helps both body and mind to function better.
Thus we cure both body and mind.
Q. What are the typical age related ailments and how can naturotathy help in old age?
A. Commonly in old age metobolism becomes week causing week digestion resulting into gas, acidity, loose motions and constipation varying from body to body, Insomnia, meaning lack of sleep or disturbed sleep is another big cause of ill health. Person sleeps at irelevent times. This can be due to undue stress, drinking and smoking, lack of physical exercise, pain and aches or any other ailments.
With age weekness of memory leads to forgetfulness.
Becoming prone to fractures and diminishing eye sight and hearing powers are also integrated part of old age.
Q. How can senior citizens avoid these problems and secure good health the natural way?
A.Talking of one problem at a time, first and foremost to correct the metabolism according to naturopathy the so called ‘5’ white poisons should be avoided. They are refined wheat flour commonly known as ‘maida’, refined polished rice, white sugar, refined salt and milk. It is advised to consume more of natural food. 80 to 20 is a good ration for the consumption of uncooked and cooked food.
Uncooked food can easily be consumed by aged people in grated steamed, grinned, churned form or as soups. Take it in which ever way it can be easily consumed and digested. Also lots of water and if possible warm water should be taken. Remember that water is a natural pain killer.
To overcome insomnia have a structured day. Make a time table for your daily activities and follow it. Keep busy full day with activities like reading, writing, doing mild exercise like walking, clapping, laughter clubs, etc. Persue any hobbies which keeps you mentally alert and physically occupied.
Another good solution is to avoid drinking, smoking or any other addiction. Also avoid sleeping pills, unnecessary popping of pills and other addictions.
Its very important to avoid watching television for 2 to 3 hours before going to bed.
Following these disciplines will take care of aches, pains and undue stress which will lead to improved sleep pattern.
To deal with week memory and forgetfulness avoid anger, negative thinking, try to be happy and laugh more often. Spend more happy hours with family and kids. Spend time in parks where you will come across more your age group people. In parks and open places you can do breathing exercises and get fresh air into your system. This supply of more oxygen to your brain helps to keep it sharp and alert.
Fractures can be best prevented by keeping bones healthy. Osteoporosis is a common factor in old age causd due to deficiancy of calcium, which in turns leads to britel bobes and fractures.
To avoid this condition we have to induce calcium rich food in our diet. Fruits like gauve, apple, banana, all green leafy vegetables, pear, white pumpkin. radish, snake gaud, squash are all calcium rich food and can be consumed as per ones taste and body adaptability.
Eyes can be taken care of by splashing water and washing them two to three times in a day. Avoid watching too mush television and electronic devices. These little efforts will help retain eye sight and hearing both to a greater extent.
Q. Any general health advise?
A. best advise is ‘Back to Nature’, Drink plenty of water if possible warm water. Do maximum exercises in open. If you are under any treatment then follow these as per your doctors advise.
